Travel, nature, landscape, architectural and human interest photography
Jack has been fascinated by photography since college, and with lifelong experience in film photography and the darkroom, he’s happy to be doing digital photography now.
Jack’s photographic technique is informed by traditional compositional principles of light, form, color, line, depth, texture and perspective. In landscapes, he tries to convey to the viewer the feeling of being there in person, experiencing the play of light and color as it actually happened.
His work has been published in Our State North Carolina magazine, Blue Ridge Country magazine, and The Blue Ridge Travel Guide. His work has been exhibited at Bluewood Gallery, the Transylvania Community Arts Center and the Hollingsworth Gallery in Brevard, the Turchin Center for the Visual Arts at Appalachian State in Boone, and at The Biltmore in Asheville. Jack’s photography is currently on exhibit at Number 7 Arts Gallery in Brevard.
In the community, Jack coordinates the website and monthly programs and speakers at the Land of Waterfalls Camera Club, does presentations and individual coaching on the art and craft of photography and photographic software, and is special events photographer for the Brevard Music Center. He is glad to have more time to devote to the craft now that he is retired from corporate life.
