Description: Experimental Encaustic Workshop with Erin Keane Offered at TC Arts The Transylvania Community Arts Council is proud to offer a workshop with Erin Keane called "Experimental Encaustic". The two-day workshop will be offered on May 20 & 21 at the TC Arts Council from 10:00 am - 4:00 pm each day. Participants will be making contemporary art with the ancient material of encaustic beeswax. Beeswax gives artwork a luminous glow, textured surface, and ethereal depth. Participants will learn several mixed media techniques including photo transfer, soft pastel wash, and deconstructed collage. There will be plenty of hands-on time and participants will create several finished pieces, ready for display. The instructor Erin Keane is an artist at Number 7 Arts in Brevard and a member of the Southern Highland Craft Guild. Keane is an encaustic artist and bookbinder who cannot resist luscious beeswax and luscious bindings. Her imagery conveys a feeling of hushing and holding, of peace and tranquility, and of awe with our surrounding beauty.
