Lesson Title: Windschief Hat
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 A great hat for the guy in your life! Treat your favorite fella with a cool hat that he'll actually WEAR ;) Designed by a guy who should know, Stephen West, this makes a fantastic gift. Make it even better by knitting it up in alpaca or cashmere (guys like soft stuff, too) to keep his ears toasty this winter. Pattern is available online at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/windschief and includes a bonus cowl pattern. Class will meet for 2 sessions on Fridays, January 20 and 27 at 11.

Lesson Title: Thrummed Mittens
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $30.00 Thrummed mittens have tufts of wool roving knitted into the fabric, lining the mitten with warm, fluffy goodness. These are great for anyone in a cold climate, who works outside, who tends to get very cold hands, or for kids. The technique can also be applied to hats, slippers, and pretty much anything else that would benefit from extra warmth. Class will meet for 3 sessions on Tuesdays, January 17, 24, and 31 at 3:30. Pattern will be provided in class, materials are available at the shop.

Lesson Title: Stockholm Scarf
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 The Stockholm Scarf is a cowl with Options! It can be worked flat or in the round, in a variety of lengths and heights (as pictured, its a bit shorter and wider than some of the other cowls we're offering this month - great to snuggle into!). It features a basic lace stitch that has just 2 patterned rows, quick to learn and remember. Class will meet for 2 sessions on Thursdays, January 19 and 26 at 3:30. Pattern is available as a free download at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/stockholm-scarf .

Lesson Title: St. Brigid Sweater
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 Alice Starmore's St Brigid sweater is a stunning combination of complex cables and beautifully understated yarn. In this 2 session class, we will work a swatch that covers all the techniques used in the sweater, before moving into an evening KAL to work the actual sweater together. Students should plan on purchasing Alice Starmore's Aran Knitting (available in the shop). Yarn is available in the shop, with additional colors available by special order (Deadline for special orders is Dec. 1). Class will meet for 2 sessions on Thursdays, January 5 and 12 at 3:30. KAL begins Jan 19 at 5:30 (KAL is $5 per session, no pre-enrollment required).

Lesson Title: Mistakes – I’ve Made a Few
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $10.00 This cowl, worked in mistake-stitch ribbing, works up lightning fast in super bulky yarns (might I suggest some of our new colors of Malabrigo's Rasta?), and is a great choice for knitters who want a cowl NOW! Class will meet for a single session on Saturday, January 21 at 3:30. Pattern is available for free at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/mistakes---ive-made-a-few and should be brought to the first class.

Lesson Title: Honey Cowl
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $10.00 The simple shape of a cowl provides an ideal opportunity to try out a new stitch pattern. The Honey Cowl features a variation of slipped stitch that creates a thick, light, waffle-weave like fabric and works up quickly. Knit this quick and easy cowl in one of 4 sizes with either worsted or DK yarn. Variegated yarns look particularly nice, as do luxury fibers, like silk blends, that show off stitch texture nicely. Class will meet for a single session on Saturday, January 14 at 3:30. Pattern is available for free at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/honey-cowl . Students should bring pattern with them to class, and it is recommended that they cast on and work the border rows prior to class.

Lesson Title: Herringbone Zig-Zag Cowl
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 This lighter-weight cowl features two different stitch textures and a slightly smaller size. It's a great choice for knitters who would like an alternative to some of our bulkier cowls, or for those who would like to explore stitch textures in finer yarns and/or variegated dye patterns. This cowl looks particularly nice in hand-dyed yarns or tonal-dyed colorways. Suitable yarns are available in the shop, and pattern is available at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/herringbone-zigzag-cowl . Students should bring the pattern with them to the first class. Class will meet for 2 sessions on Saturdays, January 21 and 28 at 11.

Lesson Title: Deep Forest Mittens
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $40.00 The Deep in the Forest Mittens are worked using stranded color work, a technique that allows knitters to knit colorful patterns into their fabric. In the class we will explore 4 different ways to handle the stranded colors, so that students will have a chance to find the method that works best for them. Students will find it an advantage to have worked simple mittens in the past, although ambitious newcomers to mittens are also encouraged to attend. Pattern is available at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/deep-in-the-forest-mittens and suitable yarns are available in the shop. Class will meet for 4 sessions on Tuesdays, January 10, 17, 24, and 31 at 1:30.

Lesson Title: Cupido Cowl
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $10.00 This lovely cowl offers a variety of different looks, depending on the yarn used. When worked in a finer mohair or mohair-blend yarn, it creates a lightweight, lofty cowl with a subtle stitch pattern. Worked in a smooth textured variegated yarn, the stitch pattern suddenly makes colors appear to pop up off of the surface of the fabric. A variety of suitable yarns are available in the shop, and pattern is a free Ravelry download, available at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/cupido-cowl . Students should bring pattern to class. Class will meet for a single session on Saturday, January 28 at 3:30.

Lesson Title: Casu Cowl
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 The Casu Cowl is worked end-to-end in two different reversible stitch patterns. This gives knitters the option to adjust sizing to whatever they please, as well as allowing the option to make a Casu SCARF, simply by choosing to not graft the ends together. Suitable yarn is available in the shop, and the pattern is available as a free download at http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/casu-cowl . Students should bring pattern with them to class. Class will meet for 2 sessions on Fridays, January 20 and 27 at 3:30.

Lesson Title: Beginning/Intro Knitting
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $30.00 Intro to Knitting will cover the basics needed to work simple flat pieces such as scarves. Students will learn about materials and tools, casting on, the knit and purl stitches, simple increases and decreases, and binding off. Class meets for 3 sessions on Saturdays, January 14, 21, and 28 at 1:30.

Lesson Title: Annabella’s Cowl
Offered By: Charlotte's Fibers, Inc.
Description: Teacher: Leah Bessette Price: $20.00 This cowl, from Churchmouse Classics, is a great way to introduce knitting in the round. We will use a circular needle and a combination of 2 yarns (1 silk, 1 mohair) to work the cowl in a simple combination of knit and purl stitches. The class will meet for 2 sessions on Saturdays January 87 and 14, at 10:30. Pattern and yarns are available in the shop.

Lesson Title: Swirl Jacket

Description: Teacher: Astrid Loveland Price: $20.00 This class will be a sort of knit-along based on Sandra McIvers book " knit Swirl". I have already made three of these jackets and have several more on the needles, they are wonderfully addicting. These are comfortable fluid jackets that look good on everybody. They are also very easy to knit, though they do take quite a bit of time and yarn. You will need to have your own copy of the book. We will go over sizing, yarn selection and swatching questions in the first class. We will also discuss how often to meet, so as not to put to great a burden of knitting on anyone. January 9 Monday at 2:30 and Wednesday January 25 at 2:30

Description: Teacher: Astrid Loveland Price: $10.00 This is a wonderful way to join yarns. I will be demonstrating how to do a standard Russian join using the same color yarns at any point and also the back to back Russian join where you can change colors at a specific point. If you learn how to do this you won't have endless amounts of ends to weave in at the end of a project. January 9 Wednesday at 2:30 $10.00
