February 12 – March 12 BODY & SOUL: Gallery Exhibit at TC Arts Council The TC Arts Council is hosting an art exhibit entitled "Body & Soul” from February 12 - March 12. Art mediums include: paintings, photogrpahy, mixed media, sculpture, glass and wood. The gallery is located at 349 S. Caldwell Street in Brevard. The gallery is open Monday – Friday from 10 am – 4 pm. An artist reception will be held on Friday, February 12 from 4-7 pm. This event is part of the Heart of Brevard's Valentine Weekend Getaway from February 12 - 14. To see other events on that weekend go to www.brevardnc.org.

Personalized Planters with Mary Murray - by Carwile-Dodson Studio for Pottery Instruction

Personalized Planters with Mary Murray runs from March 5 - 24 (3 weeks). Class meets two nights a week: Fridays for instruction and Wednesdays for practice, both from 6-9 pm. This is a great class for plant enthusiasts who want to create personalized planters out of low fire earthenware clay, which is known for its ability to both wick and store excess water. Students will be taught how to construct specialty planters for orchids, bonsai trees and herbs. They also will learn how to make and apply terra-sigillata as a surface treatment. All experience levels welcome.

The TC Arts Council will host this professional theatre performance by Bright Star Children's Theatre of "Fredrick Douglass" for all county 9th & 10th graders. Performances include: 9:30 am at BHS and 1:40 pm at RHS. Arts in Schools sponsors include: Duke Energy, Keystone Camp, Ecusta Credit Union and Brevard Surgical.

Enjoy quilts made by members of the WNC Quilters Guild – Area 5 that are on display at the TC Arts Council from March 19 - 29. The gallery is open Monday - Friday from 10 am - 4 pm. Family Clay Day - 9 - 11 a.m. Theme: Garden Art. All ages and experience levels welcome. Cost: $35 per person. ALL CHILDREN MUST BE ACCOMPANIED BY AN ADULT. Come and learn hand-building basics and have some fun getting muddy and expressing yourself. All ages welcome. You create it, pick your glaze colors, and we take care of the rest. Creations are ready for pick up in two to three weeks. In the fall, winter and spring one-time classes are offered the first and third Saturdays of the month. Registration is required. Please register by noon, the Friday before the class is offered. Participants will be notified if a class does not make, the Friday before it is scheduled to run.

You create it, pick your glaze colors and we take care of the rest. Creations are ready for pick up in two to three weeks. In the fall, winter and spring, one-time classes are offered on the first and third Saturdays of the month. Registration is required. Please register by noon, the Friday before the class is offered.
